Diagnosis

by just30, Jul 02, 2008 12:24PM
I'm 26 year old male. I recieved blood labs back today in which the doctor said that I tested negative for both HSV-1 and HSV-2 (Sorry I don't have exact numbers). It has been four weeks since my unprotected oral sex encounter (giving and receiving) and I have not had any symptoms, even mild ones (I would have noticed I have been a bit ocd since the encounter). Even though the blood work was done relatively early at 3 weeks, my doctor feels confident that I don't have herpes. She said that for piece of mind I could come in agin in a month or so and be retested, but she feels 99% sure that the results will be the same. So I'm asking the community their thoughts... Should I feel confident that i don't have herpes or should I bother taking another blood test? Should I feel confident and safe about resuming normal sexual relations with my wife? Thanks for everyone's help and advice.

Your risk was very low risk as we've already told you in your other threads you've had on this.

If you really, really feel the need to retest - don't bother doing so until 4 months after the encounter.

Don't confuse guilt with risk or symptoms.
