PO Mood Swings

by Fia69, Jul 02, 2008 12:40PM
In 2005 I had to be hospitalized because an aneurysm burst in the subarachnoid area of my head.  The doctor said it was 6mm in size and one of the biggest he's seen. Doctor Taylor mentioned that I was in the lucky 3% to survive something that big.  Well now 3 years later i don't feel so lucky. My temper and interests have changed dramatically. I wonder if it is due to the incident. Are there any groups in my home town that i can attend to help me out? NEED HELP DESPERATELY!!!

My husband had a subarachnoid  hemmorrage 3 years ago and also was very lucky to survide.  He also has had mood changes and has become very work focused and has pulled away from family and friends.  Although it may be related to the brain trauma, it can also be related to the psychological reactions to such a life threatening traumatic event.  I encourage you to see a counselor in addition to seking neurological information.  In addition such a shock to your system can sometimes trigger other conditions so make sure you have a good physical exam to rule out conditions such as thyroid, diabetes etc.
