Orgasm and tubal pregnancy

by RLKN1982, Jul 02, 2008 12:50PM
I had a tubal pregnancy about three months ago.  It ended in methotrexate and surgery.   The doctor said three months before we try again.  Ok, so the time is here.

My question is, what can I do to reduce the risk of it happening again?  I am a heathy 26 year old, who has had one successful pregnancy about four years ago.  I did have an IUD about a year prior to getting pregnant with the tubal pregnancy, but it was removed at least 9 months before.  Can the IUD be a cause?  Or can orgasm cause the egg to get stuck in the tube?

I am so terrified, as I do not want history to repeat itself.

If your ectopic was "just one of those things" without an obvious cause, there isnt anything you can do to prevent it from happening again and the chances of this happening are very slim. That being said, you need to make sure that you dont have an underlying medical condition that could predispose you to an ectopic pregnancy (such as PCOS, scarring or tubes etc.).  Orgasm will not cause the egg to get stuck in the tube.

I agree with Spade22 on checking to make sure you don't have any scarring. I had two tubal pregs. which resulted in having the tubes removed due to scarring. best of wishes
