sunburned neck

by john3142, Jul 02, 2008 03:49PM
I recently moved to a warmer climate and I got a bad sun burn on the back of my neck twice in about a two week time period.  Both times I didn't expect to be out much so I wasn't wearing sunscreen.  That was about a month ago.  The burn is gone and there are no discolorations or any other skin appearences.

Now the skin on the back of my neck where I got burned seems overly sensitive to any sun exposure and sometimes will feel itchy.  I have sensitive skin in general and wondering if I caused any lasting damage by my burns?

Hi

This skin may be in the process of generating new skin .That is skin in the process of healing may present with itchiness or discoloration. Make sure that there are no open wounds or breaks on the skin. You may apply calamine lotion on the area or try to apply light powder in the area. Sweat and heat may trigger itchiness. Take oral antihistamines if the itchiness does not respond to these. Applying cold compress may also help.
