This  is likely to be a false positive due to the inaccuracy of the test used but it will need further testing to confirm that.

How long before this had you last had sex? Has your current partner ever been tested for herpes that you know of?

You'll need to repeat this blood test with a better one in a few weeks/months depending on when you last had sex.

Hey thanks grace actually the last time i had sex was about 3 days ago because i havent had any type of symptoms that were related to herpes. When ever me and my boyfriend have sex it is never painful and neither one of use has mouth sores nor do i have and sores in my vagina, my boyfriend doesnt have and bumps on his penis either. He hasnt been tested for herpes yet But the only reason why i had this test done was just for a annual pap smear with lad work. The doctor or nurse didnt explain anything to me the just mailed me these results.

The clinic you go to needs to change the way they do things. It's inappropriate to just mail out results like this without calling and explaining what they mean first :(

Since your provider started you down the road on herpes testing - you might as well go the whole way. Get your bf tested for herpes too. A perceived lack of oral and/or genital symptoms in either of you isn't accurate as an indicator that neither of you are infected.  Once you see his igg blood test results, if he's negative for hsv2, I wouldn't even bother repeating your own, just assume it was  a false positive.  If you need the peace of mind though and decide to pursue additional testing on your own anyways ( if your man is hsv2 negative ) then check out my journal entry on herpes blood tests for more info of what test to get next. If your bf does test + for hsv2 himself, then wait 4 months and repeat your blood test again.

Feel free to ask any questions if any of that doesn't make sense.  I'm tired this week and might not be making as much sense as I think I am.
