How long before this had you last had sex? Has your current partner ever been tested for herpes that you know of?
You'll need to repeat this blood test with a better one in a few weeks/months depending on when you last had sex.

Since your provider started you down the road on herpes testing - you might as well go the whole way. Get your bf tested for herpes too. A perceived lack of oral and/or genital symptoms in either of you isn't accurate as an indicator that neither of you are infected. Once you see his igg blood test results, if he's negative for hsv2, I wouldn't even bother repeating your own, just assume it was a false positive. If you need the peace of mind though and decide to pursue additional testing on your own anyways ( if your man is hsv2 negative ) then check out my journal entry on herpes blood tests for more info of what test to get next. If your bf does test + for hsv2 himself, then wait 4 months and repeat your blood test again.
Feel free to ask any questions if any of that doesn't make sense. I'm tired this week and might not be making as much sense as I think I am.
