Sore...Pimple??

by N09, Jul 02, 2008 05:12PM
So I shaved in my genital area a couple of days ago, including the base of my penis.  Last night I got what seemed like a pimple near the base, over an area that seemed like a vein is running through.  Anyway, I squoze it and it popped kind of like a pimple, but the area around it very quickly started to swell a bit....almost like it was becoming cystic.  I prodded at it a bit.  Then today it was definitely bulging out even more.  I squoze a little more puss out of it, but it is still swollen and it hurts too...kind of like that pain you have when you have a 'deep' zit on your face.  So I'm hoping it was just an ingrown hair that created a pimple, and by popping it I created a sort of cystic swelling in that area.  I've had those before and they take forever to go down.  I'm hoping it's NOT herpes! I was recently naked with a girl (no sex, just oral) and now I'm concerned.  However, this 'pimple' coming on the heels of shaving makes me think it's not too serious, and maybe just a cyst.  I'm icing it in hopes that will help.  But please ease my nerves about this doc!  Thank you for any advice!

This sounds like an inflamed pore from shaving that you aggravated by repeated squeezing.  It does not sound anything like herpes.  I advise applying mupirocin daily and leaving it alone.  I do not recommend your taking sulfameth, which I think you should stop.  As long as the bump and swelling subside slowly but surely, and I expect they will, just let them do so.  If they worsen, you should see a doctor.

Best.

Also, the area has swollen up as if it's infected.  This reminds me of some kind of folliculitis or staff infection.  I know it's not good to self-diagnose.  But I started taking some Sulfameth that I had I never took from a previous infection.  And applying Muporocin topically.  Ok, I look forward to your response.  Thank you.

I think I have something very similar and I would appreciate if you'd follow up with how your condition is.

Yesterday I got home from a vacation and noticed a white head, a little bit bigger than the ones you get when pulling out hairs, on the scrotum surrounding my left testicle.  It looked ready to pop, so I popped it.  It drained immediately.  But the drainage wasn't ***** or bloody, it looked like water, which is unusual. Anyway, I squoze it till the bump was pretty much gone and then I left it alone.

Then an hour or so later, I went to take a leak and noticed that the area had swelled up big time.  It is a liquidy, soft swelling and it's about the size of a nickel and has some area to it.

It doesn't hurt to the touch or anything.  But I have enlarged varicocele veins on the left and it's giving me some discomfort.  I was diagnosed with varicocele 6 months ago and have been pain free since switching to boxer briefs for more support.  However, this swelling must be rubbing up against the veins or affecting them in some way, because the discomfort I used to get has returned, despite the help from briefs.

Anyway I just want to know if this thing will go away soon.  So if you could let me know how you're doing now, that would be great.  It sounds like we got the same thing.
