Kidney Mass

by anniemc, Jul 02, 2008 05:28PM
My father has been diagnosed with a mass about 8 cm on his right kidney and it is also on the psoas muscle.  What are the chances that this mass is non-cancerous also if it is cancerous what treatment if any is recommended?

Hi,

How old is your father and what symptoms does he have? It is possible that the tumor may be benign, a biopsy will tell whether the tumor is benign or malignant. Generally the treatment of kidney cancer is surgical removal along with chemotherapy.IL-2 is now being used for chemotherapy of kidney cancer.
