Tested with Home Access @ 8 weeks 1 day

by nydave, Jul 02, 2008 08:13PM
Hello anyone that may know the answer.
I had tested 8 weeks and 1 day from an incident.
I posted earlier about the risk (refresh anyone's memory):  I am gay...dated another male for about 2 months.
He had a physical...said he was tested for HIV (neg.).   Last intercourse with him was on May 4th 2008.
Tested on Monday using this mail-in HIV test (Home Access test) purchased on Internet from their website.

Idea of testing negative in a couple more weeks?  ..good sign I am thinking?

Anyways have no reason to think he may have lied about his testing.
What factors can I weigh in my favor to "help" convince me that the 12 week absolute test will be negative?
ideas? thoughts?

THanks.  Dave

P.S.  He did state that he was getting vaccinated for Hep B (series of 3 shots) if that means anything.

Getting vaccinated for HBV doesn't mean anything. You should go ahead and do your 3 month test to obtain a conclusive result then use condoms everytime you have anal sex.

I was thinking more along the lines of ,,,,,what is the likelihood of turning +ve from that negative test?

Thanks Bud.

would be taking one of these tests be just as accurate as testing 8 weeks at a clinic?

Don't worry, the likelihood of turning +ve now is close to zero.  Home Access kits are about as reliable as any other test.

Read the instructions that came with the HOME ACCESS collection kit. 3 months is conclusive. The test should not have been taken until three months post exposure for a conclusive test result.
