YAZ and mood swings

by Angie659, Jul 02, 2008 09:53PM
Hi,
Has anyone had symptoms of mood swings, anger and being unreasonable after starting YAZ Birth Control Pills?
My daughter is taking YAZ for her skin but since being on YAZ her good nature has become anything but.
Can anyone help? Or is it unrelated?

Hey Angie,

I have been taking Yaz for almost 5 months, and I have noticed a huge increase in my moodiness. I have always been somewhat of an anxious/stressed person, but it has gotten MUCH worse. I cry at the drop of a hat (seriously, the tiniest situations will make me a total mess now). I have also experienced a huge dip in my sex drive (I guess that means it's working to prevent pregnancy, huh?!), and I have put on some weight due to the munchies it is causing. This is the first birth control I've ever taken, and I am not impressed. My periods have regulated (before, they were VERY sporadic), but they are not much lighter/shorter than before. While I have not broken out more than normal, I have also not seen an improvement in my skin. I'm also experiencing some eye problems that may or may not be unrelated. I plan to quit taking birth control altogether if I have to continue like this (since taking this pill, I haven't had any desire to have sex anyway!). If you haven't done so already, I would contact your daughter's doctor to see if she can get on something else. I know I will.
