25mcg Eutirox???

by mariposarose, Jul 03, 2008 01:48AM
Back again! I was finally diagnosed (after 3 sets of blood tests) with hypothyroidism just a few weeks ago. My doctor, however, only mentioned that i ought to take 25 mcg of Eutirox everyday. I understand that my case is mild, but basing off of the normal recommended levels i have seen in the packaging and on the medication's website, I am wondering if this will do anything? I am due back for more tests in a month to check my levels. I guess we'll see then, but should I be worried that my doctor is just placating me or is he taking this seriously?

Alot of doctors will start you on 25mcg to start with for about 6 weeks, as often for a mild hypo case, that is all that is needed. You will get a blood test at the 6 week mark and then obviously by then you will know if you feel better or worse. Then a decision is made to keep you on that or go up.
If you have your test results pop them up here and we can have a look and see how hypo you are.
Cheers.

I finally was able to obtain my results from the last three blood tests (and I just had another one, so more comparison results to follow in a few weeks). I put them up on the tracker. My only concern is that the ranges that are established in the US or... pretty much any other country... will not be similar to those here in Romania. So while something might seem normal, high, or low to me & my doctor here, it may be perfectly normal anywhere else.

On another note - save the week two (euthyrox - armour) non-appetite, i haven't seen any changes in how i feel about my body or within my body. *sigh* I just want someone to take this as though i'm not a hypochondriac.
