Equivocal Results?

by TroubledSoul09, Jul 03, 2008 08:30AM
Does anyone know what an Equivocal IgG test result actually means? I tested after being sexually inactive for about 10 weeks with HSV IgG 2 Neg and HSV 1 IgG .95 Equivocal. I contacted Labcorp and they said to ask my doctor. However, since I went to a lab on my own, he is not going to assist me and wants me to take another test with him. They say it could mean a recent infection, so does this mean that I'm starting to develop HSV 1? Or is it possible for a Equivocal result to turn into a negative if I re-test? Thanks

Was this the hsv2 igg result from the testing you had prior to the last encounter you had?

The hsv 2 igg was <.90 , which according to the information meant negative correct? and the hsv 1 igg was equivocal .95.

I took the test via labcorp.....

you didn' t answer my question.

In your prior post - you stated that you had been tested by the aim clinics prior to this current encounter you had been concerned about.  Were these test results from that testing or have you had testing done since the fingering encounter you wrote about?

Sorry, I don't have those results from AIM anymore. I've since moved and didn't hold onto them. The equivocal is from being tested on Monday, and I just received the results via their website.

thank you - that was the info I needed to reply :)

Equivocal is actually negative. It's been 10  weeks since the last time you had sex. It's unlikely that you really have herpes.  I wouldn't even bother retesting again if this all stems from the fingering episode you posted about.
