Eyelash patch gone

I recently became obsessed with pulling out my eyelashes whenever I feel them touching in my eye or become too long. I usually pull until the problamatic eyelashes are gone (which usually results in the loss of 5-7 others that were not an issue). However today, I (for the first time) notice that a patch of my eyelashes are completely missing and the lid is swollen and sore from all the plucking I have done this morning. I am really wondering whether my eyelashes will regrow. I figure I have the option of wearing "fake eyelashes", sunglasses or fix my hair over my eye in some fashion-all of which I am fine with doing. But I really need to know that one day I can stop these measures and have my eyelashes back. I have learned my lesson, the very hard way, and I will now simply clip off the edges of the long or prooblematic eyelashes.

*SIGH*

This discussion is related to eyelash regrowth.

I have been pulling my eyelashes and eyebrows out for a long time no matter if I'm relaxed or stressed.I've found out yesterday that I have one or two eyelashes that are out a bald in a spot.I'm wondering if they come in.My mom tells me that they don't.I need more help than that.

eyelash pulling is addicting like heroin its its Trichotillomania obsesive compulsive disorder. its so addicting that everyone here who is trying to stop will probly relapse and start pulling any moment. it is the bodys way of coping.if you do this... somthing happend to you. once you start thats it. you must learn to exist with this problem. no embarassment. you must be just as confident, look peaple straight in the eyes as if you still had them. by carrying yourself this way people will not notice their gone.and if they do tell them to suck one. no one will bother you theres lots of worse thing you can do to your body. they will always growback thicker and thicker...its a lie that if you do it to much they dont grow back...probly someone who was in denial about pulling said this this only happens when you reach elderly ages of 70... the truth of the matter is there no cure to the human mind. there is not an antidote in the world that can cure a disease that requires no medicine. so my advice is this..just keep living your lives as you normaly would, perents whos children pull...exept it there is nothing you can do if they start at an early age like i did. ocd can swollow you if you dont watch out. the only cure is an even more addicting over the counter drug that i wont even say because if you try it because of me i couldnt live with myself.

I know this post was written a while back but I recently found out there is a name for this urge and have been reading up on it.
Before I knew about the existing name, I have been using fake eyelashes.
Before the fake eyelashes I would put on my eyelashes mascara. That way when I had my relaxing reading moments or tv watching and touched my eyelashes.....it would feel hard reminding me that I mustn't pull them. Eventually that didn't stop me.

Now that I wear fake eyelashes, it has actually helped me. Because as soon as I touch them...i dont feel that urgent feeling to pull because as soon as my finger makes contact with the fake eyelash...I stop. However I need to wear them almost all day because as soon as I take them off....and if i touch my real eyelashes......then again the problem starts.

Hi,
Eyelashes take about seven to eight weeks to grow back if pulled out. Trichotillomania is a disorder that urges the sufferer to pull out scalp hair, eyelashes, etc.
Trichotillomania (TTM) is characterized by chronic, repetitive pulling of bodily hair. The sites of hair pulling include the scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, axillary, body, and pubic area. Hair pulling tends to occur in episodes, exacerbated by stress, or sometimes by relaxation (when reading a book or watching television, for example).
You will have to re-train your self and learn yo un-do this habit before you cause permanent  damage to the lid margin.
