vision side effects -beta /ccb * other b.p meds

by boogernose, Jul 03, 2008 11:27AM
I always wondered why my eye sight was going bad - when I had normal vision before being put on meds for b.p
I know that most people in there late 40s and 50s, start to have bad vision and need glasses. its pertty well known
however upon taking a beta blocker I found my vision got worse (at a fast rate) compaired being off them.  as well
I had to take Diovan for a few years, this really screwed my vision up (fast)  though it did lower the b.p good.
im now on a ccb and dieretic drug for b.p - this has caused blurred vision more so than before, as well eye sight has
gotten bad - and my left eye has become sore and watering -twitching and dry at times!

ok I went to eye vision specialist - and got fully tested as this became a medical problem for me - turns out I have the start of cataracts in both eyeballs - reason for blurring vision and cloudyness - its too early to repair the eyes and I was told to wait untill my vision goes bad real blurred -  then its time ?  I also have a weak nerve in the left eyeball
this was fully confirmed to the ccb and dieretic and years of useing Diovan and a beta blocker - thus the cause  !

needless to say: I went online and found 2 sites that show real true side effects of each drug iv taken - in small print
there it is  - Diovan blurred vision - can cause cataracts in some people -  and vision problems ? whatever that is
the others beta blocker and ccb and even the dieretic Maxzide  shows that indeed blurred vision can happen
not to mention 10,000 other unwanted side effects !

Yes im real upset now !  as its my vision wrecked from drugs and Doctors who never tell you the side effects you can get , they just push the meds and say next to nothing about it , other than its good for you and dont worry, just take it!
like its candy or something ?
I understand getting old and eye sight goes bad with age !   but I think it should not have been as rapid - should have been slower !  the drugs in my case advanced the vision problems I have.

I go back for round 2 at the eye center next week !   I dont know what to expect ?
I am also demanding to get off the 2 meds im on now  ccb and dieretic - and take something diffrent ,hopefully that wont have the vision side effects at all.

Makes me wonder why, any drug company would make such drugs that cause more harm than good .
its Insane !

well I hope I shed some light on this subject -  and helped someone out there with these same problems !
its just information I found - and have ..
again Im the Ginny Pig , and I found most Doctors (not all )  just Guess, and play God with people. not careing
or doing there jobs right !

thanks booger the nose
