Impaired systolic function indicates the heart's pumping contractions are mildy reduced. Your test should have calculated the heart's pumping functionality by calculating the ejection fraction (EF). If the heart's cells are seriously damaged the EF would probably be below 30%. Normal EF is about 55 to 75%, and that calculation would be the amount of blood pumped out with each heartbeat.
