Penile oedema...how dangerous is it?

by allthatsmalley, Jul 03, 2008 12:45PM
I am very concerned about a swelling that I noticed this morning just under the head of my penis.  It's extremely prominent and currently psychologically exhausting.  To make matters worse, (after limited research) I'm almost certain this is due to vigorous, prolonged masturbation...but the desire to masturbate remains.  I'm torn between shivering from the emotional discomfort of having such a strange disformation on my penis....and my ongoing desire to masturbate.

There is no pain or even redness.  There are no lisions.  It's just swelling.  The research I've done so far has led me to believe that it will subside in time, and if it doesn't subside within 24 hours...it may be more serious.  My question is, will masturbation with penile oedema worsen the condition?  And if so, what does a "worsened condition" of penile oedema really consist of?  How dangerous can this be?  For many reasons this is a psychological nightmare right now and my hands are trembling even as I write this.  Please share any expertise you can on this matter.  Thank you!

Hi

Edema refers to swelling and swelling may be due to an underlying injury or obstruction. In your case, this swelling may be due to skin irritation secondary to frequent manipulation of the area. I would suggest that you have to refrain from any sexual activity for the moment until this has been readily resolved. Elevating the penis to help minimize the swelling may help. Observe the condition while abstaining from any sexual activity. See if this improves.
