Suddenly low BBT this month, with no ovulation

by kilter, Jul 03, 2008 11:56PM
I've been charting for a few months, and after years of irregularity, had started to feel at least a little bit normal; my cycles were close to regular, with nice visible biphasic temp shifts.  But this month, something went haywire.  I had a positive OPK on CD24, but by CD35, not only have I not seen a temp shift--my temperatures actually seem to be dropping (down to 96.8).  For the last five days, I've been taking vitex and applying progesterone cream, but still no improvement.  What would explain a cycle like this (particularly after a few that were textbook)?  And do I just have ot wait now for breakthrough bleeding to start trying next time?

The pos opk may be your body trying to o and the egg just didn't release. It is not uncommon to have an annovulatory cycle every now and again. I have been charting for 20+ yrs and my temps have dropped into the 96's a handful of times. Once was a pre-o dip and the others were not. Some women get 96's normally. Have you checked the temps with another thermometer? Sometimes, when the battery is low, you can get funky temps, too.

Thanks for replying. ;)  I actually bought a bbt thermometer just last week, but there wasn't much difference between those results and the one I already had...  I really just wish now that I'd get my period so I could start ttc next cycle.
