Help me, anxiety is killing me.

by nick123kid, Jul 04, 2008 05:33AM
Hi there,

I had unprotected sex about 6 months ago with someone who had  cystitis. I developed similar sypmptoms naturally after this and was prescribed Ciprofloxacin antibiotics. During the course of antiobiotics I developed  thrush like symptoms which I believe was a reaction to the antibiotics.

Ever since then my penis has not been right and it is causing me great anxiety and depressive feelings because I cant get answers from my doctors. I am clear of any regular STD's like Chlamydia, Gonorreah etc and have had blood tests that say I am not diabetic or anything like that.

My penis glans appears very dry when I pull the foreskin back (and I have had every type of steroid and antifungal cream known to man , including natural ozonated oil) and I get a sharp stabbing pain from time to time in the head or glans of my penis. I also looked this morning at my penis and I had a small red spot on my penis that I am now worried about. Something has definetely changed and my foreskin doesnt naturally moisturize my glans anymore.

This whole situation as small as it may seem to you is making have really bad thoughts all the time and causing problems with my wife although she is understanding.

Hi

This sounds like balanitis and there seems to be a fungal component present here. Urinary tract infections and STD's have a whole spectrum of disease conditions including superficial skin conditions like balanitis. This may persist for a while and given the right triggers this may even recur.

Were you able to apply 1% hydrocortisone over the area? If yes, how did this respond?

I applied 1% Hydrocortisone with fluconazale ( Canestan) for a period of time which did ease symptoms externally, but there is an underlying problem I beleive in the tissues or urethra inside the head of my penis which makes the external symptoms reoccur. I had a flexible cystoscopy and they did not find any stents or anything out of the ordinary. I strobgly believe it is some kind of infection or bacteria that the three types of antibiotics I have had are not affected by, I have had Ciprofloxacin, Doxycyclin, antiobiotics for urine infection, Canesten, Hydrocortisone, eumovate cream, Dicloflex, and the Canestan Fluconazale oral tablet twice.

Thank you for your help so far, Im glad a doctor is listening to me
