Mohs on Nose

by cappy57, Jul 04, 2008 08:18AM
I am scheduled to have Mohs near the end of my nose to remove squamous cell carcinoma.  Don't know how long the spot has been cancerous, but it has been on m nose for 5-8 years.  The Mohs surgeon does reconstructive work afterwards, but many people I've read about seem to consult a plastic surgeon afterwards vs having the surgeon do reconstruction.  Which do you recommend - having the surgeon do the reconstruction or seeking a plastic surgeon?
Surgery is scheduled in less than 3 weeks, so I need to make a decision soon.

Also, if I have the Mohs surgeon do reconstruction and I'm not happy, can plastic surgery or rhinoplasty be done at a later date to improve the appearance?

Dear cappy,

I would recommend a plastic surgeon for the reconstruction. A revision can always be performed at a later time but this is the best way to go re: having a specialist reconstruct it.
