Paratid gland and Jaw joint pain

Last Saturday I awoke with severe pain and swelling on the left side of my face near the ear. On Tuesday when the pain and swelling wasn't going away I went to my physician. I was sent for a jaw joint x-ray. Yesterday I had an MRI and was told by the doctor that I have an infection of the paratid gland and she put me on Augmentin. I also went to my dentist who told me that my jaw is locked and I have a TMJ issue. Is it possible that both conditions exist together or is one of them right and the other wrong? Can an infected paratid gland affect the TMJ joint? I can't open my mouth fully and my bite is off and can only eat soft foods. My dentist put me on 800 mg of ibuprofen this weekend to reduce the inflamation. He says it is not my paratid gland, but then he didn't read the MRI, the radiologist did.
Any help with this is appreciated.

Parotid gland infection and intracapular disc derangement are probably not related. Your presentation of tmj appears to be disc displacement. Seeing a tmj specialist to reduce the disc manually is advised.
