Seen the Neuro..

by Terrie2008, Jul 04, 2008 09:55AM
Hi

Not long back from my Neuro  appointment.

I took my time line, unfortunately he said we only have half an hour and would not have time to wade through it, and he needed to get as much information from me and carry out a few exams within my allotted time.

First done the walking, then one foot in front of the other, fingers to nose, up onto the bed, tested reflexes, pulled poked, prodded, scratched, twisted my arms and legs, then examined my eyes, tested my sense of feeling on left and right side of face, chest area and arms.

And there is a definite difference in the felt sensation between my left and right, almost like there is a line down the centre of my body.

He said he could find no problems with the test he had carried out !!!

He has requested an MRI of head and spine which I should get within 2 months, and a further appointment to see him again in 3 months.

He feels this will come back normal but wants to rule out stroke and MS.

I didn't ask if the MRI would be with and without contrast dye as I only remembered that when I got home, but I will find out when I go for the scan.

Maybe I was expecting more from this 1/2 hour visit ... like machines with electrodes and stuff, but however he did seem nice enough, and I have moved along the line by getting him to arrange the MRI.

I know that it is very difficult to be patient, but with the nature of these things, the symtpoms are not urgent, so we just have to take these slow baby steps toward figuring out what is wrong.

The fact that he ordered MRIs and arranged a follow-up appointment is a good sign.  It means he wants to pursue the matter and follow up.  I know it is not that satisfying, but it's an appropriate step for where you are right now.

Hopefully, the only change between now and your MRIs and next appointment is that you will be feeling better!

The waiting is no fun!  Just try and take good care of yourself, and check in with us when you need some company in the same boat!
