Clonus everywhere?

by RamsInfiniti, Jul 04, 2008 11:19AM
Hey everybody.  When I went to the neurologist, he told me I have 3+ hyperactive reflexes in both ankles with two beats of ankle clonus.  He explained to me all about clonus and how it is a signal in your ankles and sometimes knees of a long-tract problem ...

I can sit down in a chair and somewhat induce what I believe to be clonus by raising my foot off the ground, except for my toes.  With my thigh contracted, if I push my heel to the ground, I begin to get a rhythmic shaking of the foot ...

The question I have is that this "clonus" seems to be everywhere: ankles, knees, thighs, neck, shoulders, arms.  For instance, I can flex my bicep, then when I straighten my arm, it shakes like crazy.  When I get out of bed, I shake all over.  It seems to wane as the day goes on ...

Is this full body clonus, or something else?

Hi there!
I am undiagnosed but have the same reflexes you have.  I cannot answer your question but just wanted you to know I get the same response you do.  My muscles no longer move smoothly, there is a very slight jerky action that I have always attributed to the tremor since it all started.  I am sure someone will be along soon with more info.
