How soon can i safely concieve after c-section due to Placenta Abruption at 24 weeks

by avann100, Jul 04, 2008 04:43PM
I recently had an emergency c-section at 24 weeks due to placenta abruption and want to try again but am unsure as to how soon would be safest.  First off the reason for the abruption is suspected from being in a minor car accident two days prior and have no other known risk factors but obviously i want to be as safe as possible since risk for it happening again is already increased.  After seeing my regular OB and a high risk doctor they said 6 months to a year but a year ideally.  I realy want to start trying at 6 months but with everything physically that happened is that too soon?  I am young and in really good health otherwise and recovered very quickly but i want to know if i will be significantly increasing my risks of problems if i try at 6 months?

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my son at 12wks due to the same thing. If the dr says 6-12mos. I don't see any reason not to start trying at 6mos. It may still take a few months of trying to conceive again. I wish you the very best :)
