polymicrogyra

by ahw, Jul 04, 2008 06:56PM
hello!
my 14 month old son just had his diagnosis of hydrocephalus updated to poloymicrogyra, among other things.  I did some reading on it, and even though his neurologist is positive, I am concerned he may never speak or walk.  I guess i don't understand the severeity of this condition.  Am I wrong to expect that someday my son will ride bikes with his brother or play sports in high school?

thanks

Hi there.  Though science seems to be against us, it is still not totally hopeless to expect some good results and stay positive.  It is recommended that every form of treatment for this condition be offered to you by your neurologist and undertaken if feasible.  Rehabilitation and physical therapy can sometimes really work wonders. I wish you and your son all the best.  Regards and God bless.
