When can i do normal activties

by actordancer, Jul 05, 2008 05:20PM
i hate to ask a 'silly' question - but post-op surgery R-eye is now 3 weeks/L-eye is 10 days post-op & still on an antibiotic drop/anti-inflamatory drop and steriod drop ... is it o.k. to do housecleaning i.e. dusting, vacuming, etc.  - i hope i didn't do a dumb thing but today i cleaned=off the blades of a ceiling fan that probably could have had our house condemned !    but did wear the post-op 'goggles' with the 'protective' edges around them  and did not lift my face in the direction of the blade - used a wet towel also so no dry particles flew around.  I assumed if i didn't clean that fan the accumulated dirt would just be 'thrown' into the air which wouldn't be terrific either - sort of a 'double-edged' sword situation....  immediately after i used artifical tears and now 2 hrs 'post-cleaning' there appears to be no problem...i don't 'think' anything flew into my eyes but as you can tell, i'm a 'worrier'  .   ... i just don't want to do anything to introduce infection... i was warned not to clean the kitty-litter box also...but i'm wondering if i wear those post-op 'goggles' with the protective frames  top/bottom/sides and don't 'shake' anything i'd be alright...
Bottom line ... am i being too over-cautious at this stage of the post-op time?  thanks so much for not laughing !!!  sincerely - Edythe

I"m not laughing but we're not giving post operative advise. You good questons but they must be answered by your surgeon and his/her staff.

oh sorry - i thought my questions were just 'generic- routine' maintenance issues  - i.e. don't bend, don't do this//that, etc.   thanks anyway.

As a general rule, don't dance very much yet, don't lift anything, don't fly or have ANY anesthesia wo MD"S advice, if you have a gas bubble. Howvwer, you MUST check all with your doctor. No general maintenance rules.
