Poison Ivy (i think)

by kaylamarie614, Jul 06, 2008 09:29AM
I have never had poison ivy before. I have these little tiny bumps, almost blister like, thet itch so bad. i have them all over my knuckles, my neck, the side of my face and my eyelids. I am concerned about my eyelids. the ones all over my knuckles are breaking open and are really starting to hurt. The itching is driving me crazy. There is no relief from  it. I have tried non itch cream, iI have this stuff called ivy dry. The itching will not quit. It is so frustrating, I cry sometimes because I can't relieve the itch. I hane no insurance and cannot go to the doctor. How long is this going to last?

Are you sure it is poson Ivy? could be an allergy, have you changed your shower jell or shampoo, check out the detergents you use for clothes. Have you rubbed your eyes as if it is poison Ivy possibly you have spread it there. Get some Apple cider Vinegar and dab the affected areas, it probably wont clear it but will sooth it, Cold cloth to soothe also, take an anti Histamine from a drug store ask the Pharmacists adviseyou.. If it persists you may need the Doc.

Whats up kayla. Poison ivy does make small blisters and stuff but theres usualy redness along with it (like a rash) im sure you would know if you were bit by fire ants lol i have been, and they sting like hell. Anyway i just got over some poison ivy i got a few weeks ago workin outside. It sucked so bad, I was about ready to break out the belt sander on it lol. Really though what I did, that helps stop the itch for quite a while.  Turn on some water in the bath tub..get it as hot as you can possible take and run it on the areas you have it on. Its gonna itch like you wont believe for the first few seconds but it goes away and feels better for like an hour. (TAKE NOTE THOUGH: If you think its poison ivy dont scratch it and do not take a full bath. Just run the water on it. Poison ivy is pretty much an allergy to the oil in the plant and oil floats on water so soaking in a tub may feel good but is a no go. Take a hot shower if its in areas where you cant run the water over it. Also scratching feels good to but it pops the little blisters and spreads the oil which spreads the anoyance lol. ) Anyway i hope this helps you out. ;)

Thanks guys, It got so bad I went to the Health Department and they gave me a series of a weeks worth of prednisone! OMG, almost immediate relief!!!  My hands look horrible but it is drying up quickly and almost no itching!  We DO have fire ants around here where I live and I knew it was not that! Thank god, I have seen those big buggers and they look like they could do some damage!!! Thanks again, y'all!
