Hi .
I had very painful heavy periods due to fibroids and endometriosis, I used to pass very large blood clots too . how big is this bump on your cervix? it could possibly be a polyp , you do need to go to the doctor for an exam and a pap smear to check it out . Try not to panic as a lot of benign conditions cause all sorts of symptoms but make an appointment asap and explain your family history and symptoms to your doc . I hoe everything turns out well for you .

Take care Angie

I recently was diagnosed by TVUS as having a nabothian cyst on my cervix.  I was freaked out but my gyn said these are benign and sort of like a big pimple.  They happen when a gland becomes blocked.  He said that they may feel like a hard bump on the cervix.  Be sure to talk to your doc but in the mean time try to relax knowing that this is one possible benign cause for the bump.

As far as the clots go, I have never personally had one that big but I did reseach clots for a friend and I did learn that our bodies make anti-coagulant (don't know about spelling) chemicals that assist in the flow of our period.  However, during heavy flow times, the bleeding may be happing too quickly for your body to produce enough anti-coagulants.  Again, be sure to talk with your doc, but these are some possibilities that are benign.

I know its hard, but try to relax.

I had painful periods literally all my life.  In my 40's, I began having the heavy periods you describe. None of this was a sign of ovarian cancer.  Menstruation is the function of the uterus.
And, by the way, the cervix IS already a bump.  An ob/gyn can answer all of your questions.
Best of luck.

You should go talk to your ob/gyn about your symptoms. When was your last pap? The ob/gyn can help you figure out what is going on with pap and other tests. Good luck.
