Had OPEN Pyeloplasty surgery

by jojokdz, Jul 06, 2008 10:12AM
I had a kidney stone that I couldn't pass and they had done the Lithroscopy 2x and it didn't work.  After many tests done they decided to do this surgery because I had a collasped ureter.  This was in 2001.  Since then all has been good.  But the past few years only off and on I get a ache back there where your kidney is.  I also get a dull pain across where they did the incision on my right side.  I also get a pinching feeling that runs down into my groin.. I have only experienced the pinching sensation maybe 4-5 times since 2001.  But the dull ache I get in my side is off and on.. not terrible but just there.  Has anyone else out there had this?  Could it be scar tissue build up?

Hi,
You will need to have an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis to identify the cause of the pain.

It is possible that there may have been a new stone formation.
Even if there has been scar tissue build up, it may have also caused symptoms related to voiding.

The pinching sensation radiating to the groin may also be due to a stone small enough to pass through the ureters.

It would be best to have an ultrasound imaging done after consulting with your GP or nephrologist.
Meanwhile, keep hydration above 2000 ml per day and avoid caffeine and alcohol.

Do keep us posted on your doubts and progress.
Regards
