Mild tigling sensation and redness at tip of penis

by patrick52, Jul 06, 2008 01:02PM
I am a 24 yr old health male and I participated in unprotected sex about a week ago.  Three days after the intercourse I developed a mild tingling sensation on the tip of my penis and some redness right around the hole.  The redness is only isolated to some areas but it is very slight (slight enough as to where I can notice the difference but my doctor could not).  The tingling is a constant reminder of my foolish decision to participate in unprotected sex and I have not been able to sleep soundly since it has happen.  When I went to see the doctor he did not see anything and told me not to worry about it.  I pleaded that he gives me a test for peace of mind.  I think I under stressed my concern with the issue because I was embarrassed.  Anyways...  He swabbed me for herpes and told me to get blood work for the other major stds in about a week.    My major question here is this.  I have read online that gonorrhea symptoms can me mild to non existent. I have also read that you should get on antibiotics ASAP.  I fear that I down played my situation with my primary care and now I am just left waiting with no antibiotics.  Do my symptoms sound like gonorrhea, herpes, or something else, and how concerned should I be.  Should I call my primary care back and try to get prescribed some antibiotics?

Your symptoms could be a few different things.  You should try and find a place that will give you a urine or swab test for gonorrhea and chlamydia, as the blood tests aren't all that accurate.

Yes, its important to treat them promptly, but a few days either way isn't going to matter.
