Early Repolarization/Sudden Death?

by chevy man, Jul 06, 2008 01:04PM
Hey can you guys help has any one ever heard that Early Repolarization can lead to Sudden cardiac arrest??

by Cleveland Clinic, Jul 08, 2008 05:44PM
There is a recent small trial out of France which showed an increase in sudden cardiac death in otherwise healthy adults with early repolarization. These adults were survivors of ventricular fibrillation and were more likely to have this finding than not by almost 3:1 ratio. At this point it is uncertain how to workup such patients, although most will benefit from beta blockers. Probably and echocardiogram and an event monitor to document any arrhythmias but apart from that the decision for the placement of an ICD has to be individualized to that particular patient.

oh and i should mention i have these symptoms I keep having these episodes where i begin feeling weak and I feel nauseated and get near syncope I don't know what brings it on.  It just happens randomly.  And then goes away  I get dizzy and some times chest discomfort on the left side, in the center and up near the coller bone and shoulder. i have had the following tests

Chest Xray
Echocardiogram

Check out the link above. My son has early repolarization as well as long qt syndrome. I was originally told it was not connected, but his EP has since changed his mind a bit on this.
