Whats my problem?

by shadowknight, Jul 07, 2008 12:50PM
So I am 23 years old and I work as a freelance web developer (programmer). I work on one project at a time. But most of the time I have 3 or 4 projects waiting in line and this causes something which I am not sure what its called. I believe its anxiety but I am not sure. I'll try my level best to explain properly what I experience. Whenever I work on a given project, most of the time I spend thinking about the projects which are waiting in line. And this makes me feel like killing myself. Whenever I wake up in the morning, I am half asleep and half awake for a few minutes and most of the time I have the thoughts of the projects running through my mind. And I feel like just quitting my work and not worry about anything. I have a history of drug abuse although I am now clean from the past 4 months or so. When I used to abuse drugs, I never experienced this problem. I was very productive. This problem always interferes with projects I am working on at a given moment. I take long breaks because of it. I dont feel like working. I just want to stop for the day. Few days back I tried taking .25 mg of clonazepam and it did something amazing! I felt relaxed and cool and I was very productive that day. I didnt for a moment care about the projects I need to attend to. I was able to focus on what I was doing currently. I am not sure what this is but I would sure like to know and would also like to know if it can be cured.

Namaste,

What you describe, especially considering the relief you received from the Klonopin, sounds like generalized anxiety disorder, which is very common and relatively easy to treat.

Without a thorough evaluation, however, from a professional mental health worker it's not possible for us(those within the forums) to make anything except educated guesses based upon the information provided.

With proper treatment, I'm sure you'll overcome this in no time whatsoever.

Good Luck!

Hi Michael. I am currently being treated for depression. Do you think my psych. might prescribe something if I tell him about this problem? I understand you cannot give any professional advice. But I'd just like to know if a doctor would prescribe some medicine. I'd like to be very productive. I dont want this problem coming between me and my work.
