Any ideas??

by Deb7170, Jul 07, 2008 02:36PM
I am a 38 year old woman in relatively good health.  After the birth of my son 12 weeks ago I began to notice a pain in my upper right quadrant that would wake me up at night.  That has abated (for the most part) but mild/moderate pain in the same region has continued as has pain between my shoulder blades.  Initial bloodwork showed a tiny elevation of lipase levels (which follwup tests showed to be normal) which led me to have an ultrasound (normal), CT scan (head of pancreas seemed slightly prominent although radiologist beleived it was a normal variant), MRI of pancreas (normal), HIDA scan (normal- although the tech told me she was sure it was my gall bladder, liver function tests also normal.
I have seen an OB, two GP's and a surgeon.  I am going to see a gastro specialist this week.
This has caused me a great deal of anxiety b/c I fear pancreatic cancer which I have been told by ALL doctors has been ruled out.
Any ideas?

Hey I understand what you are feeling. I'm 19 years old with a child of my own. I had her a year ago and I had the same problem. The drs did the same tests on me and desided to just take my gallbater out when there wasnt anything wrong with it 10 mons after my c-section. I think its a great idea that you are going to see a gastro specialist. Its been 5mons after my gall bladder surgry and my doctor hasn't sent me to a specialist. I was watching discovery health channel, there is this show called mystery diagnosis. Well, I was watching it and this girl had everything I have going on now. Its sad when you have to watch tv to find away to make your self healthy. Nice talking to you!
