White Tongue for 4 Months

by healthy99, Jul 08, 2008 02:31AM
Hi, for about 4 months now I have had a white coating on my tongue. It has at times been worse and sometimes better but consistently there. I am able to scrape off the "top layer" but some of the coating still remains. I use the tongue scraper twice a day but this top layer does come back. There is no pain associated with it although I did notice once that after scraping there was some blood. In the past 1 or 2 months there have appeared white spots on the sides of my tongue. These are unable to be scraped off at all. I have been tested twice for HIV and have been negative both times. I have tried various alternative remedies and maybe not consistently enough but nevertheless without much change. I have worried myself to death looking at pictures and cannot decide whether it looks more like thrush or hairy leukoplakia (which I know is associated with HIV). What could it possibly be and should I be worried?

Your tongue is one of the main organs which can tell you about other symptoms withinn your body.  Have you by any chance tried going to an acupuncturist?  It may not be your tongue itself that is ill, but instead just showing symptoms for one of your internal organs.

you can do a histologic examination , then you will know the exact diagnosis
