My dog isn't eating!

My dog isn't eating. He ate a tiny bit two days ago and struggled to poop as if he were constipated. He IS drinking water. I bought the gravy that you can pour over dry food today and he ate the pieces with gravy on it but stopped once the gravy was gone. I tried it again afterwards to try and get him to eat the rest of his food but it didn't work. He does seem to want to eat anything I am eating though. About a week ago, we took him on a trail for a walk and he stopped almost every 10 feet. It was hot that day so we assumed he was stopping because of the heat. About 10 minutes into the walk, I noticed his back legs were shaking. I thought maybe he pulled a muscle so we continued on our walk for a big longer. I've taken him for walks or swims every day since then (8 days now) and he doesn't seem to be getting better. It seems like all he wants to do is sleep. He is also missing a small circular patch of hair above his left thigh. He's a 4 year old yellow lab and use to be extremely active. We take him to the dog park often and he usually loves it. In the past week, he just stays by my side and seems annoyed by the other dogs. Please help!

I think it may be best to take your dog to the vet.  The symptoms you have described are vague and can be caused by a variety of different diseases.  

What you are describing could be  impacted anal glands, or Lyme or other tick disease, or a torn anterior cruciate ligament or other athletic injury.  Other causes could be urinary tract infection, kidney disease and more.

It is not very costly to have the anal glands checked, and emptied if necessary, and to have the blood test for the tick borne disease.  If your dog has one of the tick diseases he would be treated with doxycycline.  If these prove to be normal, than more extensive blood tests, a urinalysis, and X-Rays should be performed.

I have taken my dog to the vet and he has type 2 diabetes. He is not on insulin and a prescription dog food.

My dog was hyper yesterday morning and then me and my boyfriend get home from work and he does nothing but want to sleep and not eat. he did not eat yesterday morning or night, or this morning or tonight. we feed him twice a day. he is just walking around like he is half asleep and does nothing but want to lay down?
whats wrong with him..
