uneven pupils????

by thereyougo24, Jul 08, 2008 07:24PM
i am seriously concerned with my 9 week olds eyes. i have 6 children and dont scare easily, but this is bothering me. i have noticed the difference in pupil size for about 3 weeks now. some have told me that it was his eyes maturing (which im not buying) and others say they dont see much difference. the difference is VERY great and i see it. i was wondering if anyone had an answer. im making him a doctors appt to have it looked at, but im worried sick about brain tomurs and such...anyone calm my nerves a bit?? i have pictures where it is very clear also if you would need to look. thank you.

About 10 % of people have small differences in the size of their pupils (aneisocoria). There may be something "wrong" with the pupil or the eye but brain tumor would be extremely, extremely uncommon.  I would discuss it with your pediatrician. Take some pictures (without flash or red eye feature) to take in. I would ask the pediatrician to refer you to a pediatric ophthalmologist. Since there are not enough of these types of Eye MDs they are usually booked a long way out so the pediatrician can probably get you in earlier than if you called your self.
