My girlfried has lupus

by Ed02, Jul 09, 2008 03:32AM
My girlfriend has had lupus for a couple years now. She also has anemia and takes iron for it. Last week she went to the doctor for her usual check up and blood test. Today her doctor called telling her that the results were not good. What can this mean? What can she have now, Leukemia or problems with her bone marrow? We are going for the results next week because she didn't want to hear them over the phone, and i respect that. But what should i be bracing myself for, what can she have now?

You sound like a friend anyone would be happy to have.  Autoimmune diseases which is what Lupus is can be very frustrating and confusing.  I would think it would have been better to get an idea what the doctor has found before having to wait a week but that was her choice.  There are just so many things the doctor may tell you.  There could be organ involement that wasn't seen before or she could have another autoimmune disease along with lupus which is common once you have lupus.  I do not want to go guessing because that's like finding a needle in a haystack.  I will say that whatever the doctor tells her, she is a blessed person to have a loving, caring friend to stand by her side.  And you just take a deep breath and say a prayer and show her your strength when she needs you.  I have a friend like you and her name is Susan.  I don't know what I would do without her strength.  Hers strength is mine at times.  I have Lupus too.  God Bless you.  And if you want to talk you can message me.
