when do the egg mature?

Hi,
I have read somewhere, a follicle is said to be matured, when it isabove 18mm. I have always had a very irregular cycle, i have pcos. While under injectibles, my follicle (only one), grew to 19.5mm only on day 16, the last cycle did not click,,the dr said we should make them grow early,,iam so confused on the size and ability,,,,,,,,
Why they say the egg that comes after day 20, is poor of quality? This is my 5th day of my period,,iam on injectibles,,,going for U/S by 12th,,,Pls advice

So do your follicles not rupture on their own?  Or do they rupture and you are afraid the eggs are not mature when it does rupture?

I am on injectables, started yesterday for the first time.  I have unexplained fertility and I am wondering if my follicles rupture and the egss aren't mature enough or something....

I won't be on until tonight!  But I will check your post!

To: Hi Ladies
My RE said that when the body releases an egg  - at least the lead egg will be mature..  So if a follicle releases an egg then that egg is mature.
They also mentioned that an egg can mature at 18mm although they like to see 20mm.
Hope this helps.

Not only the size of the follie matters. It should be of good quality. That's when it can not only fertilize, but also implant and lead to successful term. Might be this is what she meant.

I have 3 children....11 1/2, 10 and almost 6 (next week!)  I was remarried to a wonderful guy who has no children of his own, except for his step children and he loves them so much, but he is such a great person, we want a child of our own together.  He deserves that!  I didn't check out those photos, I will look for sure though!

Vortex:  I agree with you.....That is what I meant.  I am glad you clarified that for me because I was just guessing.  I think that is the issue I am having.  We are doing injectables this month, I am praying this fixes the problem.  Doesn't injectables (Follistim) help the quality?
