Low AMH, Normal/High FSH and Recurrent Miscarriage

by Suzie0224, Jul 09, 2008 11:25AM
Ok, I got more test results.  To recap, I have had 6 pregnancies - 5 of them resulted in m/c. I have never had a negative preg. test.  I get pregnant very easily but I've lost 5 around 10 weeks.  My FSH is 9.82, genetic testing is normal, all blood work is normal EXCEPT - my AMH.  My AMH is .62 - very low/indetectable.  What I don't understand is that my FSH is considered high normal but my AMH is horribly low.  I don't get how I can get pregnant so easy but for some reason I m/c. I ovulate regularly.  None of this makes sense to me. A high FSH and low AMH should mean that I cannot conceive.  AUGH...

My FSH was 16 and I was able to concieve.  I don't think that FSH number is high to me.

I agree with prevatt; your FSH doesn't sound high to me.  I was able to conceive pretty easily (and naturally) with an FSH of 15.

conceiving is not the issue.  Keeping a baby past 10 weeks seems to be the issue.  Do you think that could be a result of my FSH/AMH?

First off, I am so sorry you are dealing with this.  I have just had 3 m/c in a row, and I know how hard that was...I can't imagine what you are going through at 5.  Your levels don't seem way off to me, and obviously you don't have any trouble conceiving ( same thing here, I just never make it past 8 weeks or so).  I just went through every test imaginable, mainly through ultrasound and bloodwork, and they cannot find any reason why I should keep m/c.  My OB pretty much told me older eggs (I am not sure how old you are), and bad luck, and to keep trying.  In first trimester m/c 85% of the time there is no explanation.  I'm sorry, I know thats not overly helpful, but I do doubt its a result of your FSH (as you said, that would more likely affect your ability to conceive).  I wish you well, and wish I could be more helpful.

It is somewhat comforting to hear that someone out there has the same issues.  It seems that our case is unusual. I am looking into using acupuncture and homeopathic medicine before my next pregnancy.  Do you know anything about those options?

by adgal, Jul 10, 2008 12:07PM
I don't really, but am very interested in anything (especially natural like that) that may help.  There was someone else on here not long ago talking about acupuncture to help prevent miscarriage.  I would love to share information with you as both of us come up with it.  I am in the TTC time again, and typically it doesn't take me too long, so we will see what happens this time around.  I should mention I was also on progesterone (prometrium, orally) last time as well.  I have a prescription for it now, and my OB said to fill it and start it as soon as I get a positive HPT again.    Its so frustrating when they can't give you answers.  However, I hope you take as much comfort from this site as I have.  Prevatt had 4 m/c and is now well into 2nd trimester, Carp had 2 and is now 20 weeks with a healthy baby boy.  We can do it as well.  I wish you luck, and I will send you info as I get it, as I too am looking into different options.
