ascites problems

by sunneyo, Jul 09, 2008 01:37PM
I was diagnosed with autoimmune hep 10 yrs ago and have been on the liver transplant waiting list for 2 years. I've never been able to completely get off the prednisone and i take cellcept instead of imuran because i could not tolerate the imuran. Long story short- i have problems often with ascites getting so bad that overnight i can look like i'm about to deliver a baby. i take lasix and aldactone which are diuretics that seem to work most of the time but then every once in a while-the quit working. Usually when i get so swollen my dr. sends me to have a paracentesis to draw the fluid off but they are never able to access it because it's generally saturated in my bowels and not a free standing pool to draw from. So far my specialist here locally doesn't seem too concerned with finding out what is causing this. Has anyone else had this problem
