Not trusting a pregnancy test

by ssweetkitten02, Jul 09, 2008 06:05PM
Ever since I got my period at age 11 I have been pretty regular every 28-30 days.  I am usually able to predict my period to the day. My husband and I are trying to conceive and this month my period was highly irregular.  What I thought to be my period came 2 days early and only showed itself only in the form of spotting.  Very light pinkish spotting continued for the next 5 days.  During this time I had increasingly sore breasts that hurt even when they weren't being touched, dizziness, sleepiness and very hungry.  Then 3 days ago I awakened to very heavy bleeding that only lasted 2 days (my regular cycle is usually 7 days of heavy bleeding the first 4 days and light bleeding the remaining 3days).  Today I am having no bleeding, breasts are mildly sore, still hungry and yesterday I noticed some veins on my nipples popping up.  I have taken 4 pregnancy tests because I feel my body is not acting the way it usually does, all were negative.  Does it sound like I could be pregnant or is it wishful thinking?  I would make an appointment to see my doctor I just don't know if an irregular cycle constitutes going to the doctor. Thoughts?

Yes, irregular periods do constitute going to the doctor. And if you're TTC then you should see your doctor anyway and work out a plan with them.

It could be that your period was late, or what you experienced first was implantation bleeding.  Hard to say though with negative HPTs.  A lot of times pregnancy symptoms are similar to PMS, too.   If you suspect you could be, you could get your HCG levels tested at your doctor.
