3 months or 6 months?

by komina, Jul 09, 2008 08:07PM
I have noticed that in this forum it is said that after 3months/12weeks your HIV test results are conclusive.

My question is why that is if the CDC says 6months...  Why 6? and to whom does that 6 months apply to.

After my 12th week can I rest knowing I'm not infected?   What is it 3 or 6?

Should I get a PCR test?

You've been here long enough to know that 3 months is conclusive and the CDC guidelines was changed from 6 months to 3 months in 2004. No you don't need to take an unapproved test. Get your conclusive test and be done with it. Your 11 week test isn't going to change.

what causes the very few people that do become positive after the 12th week?

You are not in that catagory and need not worry about it. Your 3 month test would be conclusive.
