flashes

by koti108, Jul 09, 2008 08:28PM
I had a repeat retinal detachment 14 yrs after the first one. I was operated 10 days ago with scleral buckle, silicone oil and laser. I see a flash almost in the same spot I noticed before surgery.
But three repeat eye exams post operatively showed that the retina is attached. What is the reason for the flash?
also increased tearing of the eye as the day progresses with some pain which was not there for the first few days after surgery and the exam was normal one day earlier. what might be the reason.
Thank you in advance.

The flash can be due to retina traction, optical abberations from air or oil in the eye, if you have an IOL in the eye could be from that.

You have had a big operation, if redness or pain increases call your surgeon and go in for an extra visit.
