Eyelashes falling out?

My son is 7 years old, and has a 1/4 inch spot in the middle of his lashline where there are no eyelashes. He may be pulling them, as he is autistic and tends to do things like that, but I noticed that the edge of his eyelid at the lashline seems a little puffy. Could he have some kind of infection going on?

Possibly. You need to find out whether this is trichotillomania (hair pulling) or blepharitis. See a Eye MD ophhtalmologist physician for a complete medical eye exam. Only that will tell you for sure.
