Can't Sleep - Very Wierd Symptoms

by ddashley, Jul 10, 2008 03:30AM
All righty.  I can't sleep and I'm sure you know that by now because I'm posting this at 3 o clock in the morning, Central Time.

Right when I'm about to doze off, my body seems to rebel and wake me.  It's like an electric buzz (not a shock) through my face and arms.  It's subtle but enough to wake me up.  Not only that, sometimes these buzz's last for about a second, like a violent nauseating pulse.  And, sometimes they last for up to 10 seconds, which causes my stomach to knot up and I get this very strange, and almost indescribable phantom feeling that I'm going to throw up, but it never happens.  I don't even feel stressed out or nervous when this happens.  The pulse's really do me in, because they are so discomforting.  They give me nausea, bloatingness, and a knot in my throat.  I had this strange sensation that my heart was beating very fast, even though I remained calm, but when I felt my pulse it was normal, slow beats.  When I sat up, I could see my heart beat in my vision, like I had high blood pressure or something.  White rimmed flashes in my eyes synched with ever heart beat.

I don't know what this is, but it is pissing me off.  I do clench my jaw alot but I'm not sure if I was doing it just before I got up and starting looking for my symptoms.  I alway catch myself clenching my jaw and stop myself.

Buzzing, vertigoish sensations.  That's how I can describe these wierd feelings that get me nauseas right when I'm about to doze off.  Heck, sometimes I get the same sensations when I'm walking around, but mostly when I'm trying to fall asleep.  Am I allergic to falling to sleep or something?

I have no insurance and no Job.  Nobody is hiring me for some stupid reason, they keep telling me that I don't have enough experience which is by far the stupidest excuse not to hire somebody.  (How are you supposed to get the exp. with out being hired in the first place?)  I have 50,000 dollars of student loan I have to pay off.  I have a negative balance in my bank account.  Maxed out and negative balanced credit card. I'm thinking I want to join the Navy but these symptoms are keeping me from going in because I fear they may get in the way.  Stressed?  Damn right I am.  But I refuse to believe that this is stress related because when somebody is about to dose off, they're not stressed, they're relaxed.  And when these symptoms occur, I stay relaxed, and calm.

Hi,

The most important and common cause of inability to sleep is stress so I will not rule that out completely. At the same time there can be other reasons also like GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) which can cause nausea, bloating, headache and knot in your throat.
I would advise you to eat your dinner at least two hrs before your bedtime, avoid oily food. You can also try going for a post dinner walk it will reduce your stress as well. You can  also take a mild OTC antacid and see if they help. If these measures do not help please schedule an appointment with a physician and undergo a complete physical examination.
