late conception?

My wife was diagonized with pcod 5 months back.The doctor sugested she have novelon for three months starting on the fifth day.Her periods were regular.then we tried this month without novelon along with follicle study.The follicle study showed growth of follicle as 15mm on the 23rd day so took an injecton and the egg ruptured on 25th day. Today is the 39th day. She has no tiredness and says she feels no sign of mensis as she usually can feel it a week before the mensis starts. We also did a HPT on 38th day and was negative.The gynac says we can wait for a week more as it could be late conception. kindly hepl me out on wat is happening and what is late conception?
