Constant headache

by Davis398, Jul 10, 2008 01:03PM
Hello,
I was hoping to get others input on what other things I should be considering with a constant headache I have been having.  Basically I have been having constant pressure/pain around my right temple, right sinus and right eye.  The pain is not sharp, more dull and achy and has not let up for 7 months.  I am 33. I have had a fairly extensive work up with no answers.  Namely, and MRI of brain and neck, blood chemistries, CBC, lyme (western), nerve conduction  and EMG of arm, leg and neck.  Thyroid, B12, ophthalmology exam.  No answers have come out of this work up so I am searching for others that might have found answers to similar problems.  Given the nature an duration of the symptoms I am fairly certain it is not a migraine or stress related but other than that I have no clue.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

Is there anything which relieves pain?
This appears to be a sinus headache. Sinusitis causes collection of fluid in the sinuses which puts pressure and causes headache. You can try steam inhalation and OTC decongestants and see if that helps.
Another cause could be an allergy. Allergies can cause headache. Are you allergic to something?

Thnak you for the reply.  According to the Doc the MRI of teh head did not show any sinus inflamation suggesting no infection.  I do have an appointment with an allergist next month though to examine the allergy potential.  Nothing including OTC, pain relivers or presciptions such have Lyrica have eased the pain.  Any other suggestions from anyone?

Thanks,

Do this pranayam exercises, and do not give up before 4 weeks.Your symptoms will start to ease off gradually as the cells in the body get energised with oxygen.Come back to report progress, so others may benefit.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after 1 minute.
Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 15 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom -  Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30  minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep breaths into the lungs.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 15 times

I am on here trying to find answers to a similar problem.  I have just been diagnosed with a condition called "hemicrania continua" by my neurologist.  Which basically means that half of my head hurts ALL OF THE TIME!!! Like you, it is always my right side and it is a dull ache and pressure.  We are trying some medications.  They worked well for about a week, but unfortunately the headaches returned last Thursday.  From what I have gathered, they don't know much about these headaches and don't know what causes them.  Obviously don't know if you are suffering the same type of headaches, but it might be worth looking into.   Good Luck and God Bless!!

The pranayam breathing exercises will definitely help.It treats the underlying body systems to cure the headache.
Do it everyday for as much time as you can spare (not more than maximum suggested) and see the results yourself. You will start to feel the difference in days.
Do it to benefit.

I hope that all works out well for you!!!  Anyone on here knows how frustrating it is to have a pain like yours that you have NO IDEA where it comes from.  Keep pushing and keep asking questions!!!!  Someone somewhere knows the answer.

Going for my MRI tonight.  My neurologist doesn't expect to find anything there, but here goes anyway!!!

Definately keep me posted!!!
