paralyzed??

by raebay, Jul 10, 2008 02:04PM
I read your story and wow, it was very interesting. Thank you! I was diagnosed with chiari type 1 in march of this year. I saw 2 different neurosurgeons and both had almost the exact same things to say.  However, reading your story as well as many others on this website, I get scared reading about how people were on the road to being paralyzed. Neither one of the doctors I saw said anything about paralyzation. This scares me....I have been told by both of them that I only needed to follow up with an mri of my head and spine in 6 months because I really hadn't been having any severe symptoms. I do not have any numbness or tingling. I have off and on neck pain, but other than that, not much more. Is it that my case could not be as serious as some of the ones I have read about? I am not sure...just gettin' kind of scared...any type of response is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
