39+weeks help!

so i am 39+weeks now and at 3 cm and 70 %. i am in so much pain, can hardly walk somedays. do you ladies have any suggestions on how to get things to speed up besides sex? im trying that, doesnt seem to be doing anything. any advice will do. oh, and my dr. stripped my membranes a couple days ago, that didnt seem to do anything except cause cramps and bloody mucous.

what worked for you all, if anything?

unfortunately, you probably just need to stick it out and he/she will come when they are ready, or not at all and you'll have to go in there and get him/her out. i know its the last thing you want to hear right now, but there's not much you can do. i tried everything "they" suggest to induce labor naturally, everything but castor oil, and nothing. i ended up going into labor the morning of my due date. good luck and try to rest!

I think we have all heard stories where this or that jump started their labor.  The most logical ones I've heard are the orgasm because your uterus is a muscle and when you orgasm your muscles contract.  I don't think it's the sex so much as the actual orgasm but who knows.  Then there is the reflexology, my friend (she's a masage therapist and trained in reflexology) swears that it can help to start labor if done correctly.  Good luck, hopefully it'll be soon.  Since you are at 3 and 70% it shouldn't be too much longer.  Keep us updated.

as far as the sex bringing on labor.  The semen has stuff in it to break down the cervix.  You could walk around and let gravity pull the head down which will open the cervix.  Sometimes the stripping of the membranes takes a week to work.  If you are 39+ weeks, you dont have much time left anyway so I wouldnt do anything to compromise the baby for a max of 2 weeks left in pain.  and cramps are contractions so it sounds like the stripping may have worked a bit and bloody mucus could be your mucus plug.  It actually sounds like youa re moving right along.  good Luck and try to enjoy these last few days.  you will miss it!

thankyou for all your comments. i know i just need to be patient. i will be walking alot though. i walked to the library yesterday and it seemed to have caused ALOT of contractions by the time i got home, and the baby significantly dropped . so hopefully any day now.

I feel so bad for you.  I was like that, at 37 weeks and my Dr. stripped my membranes.  I was induced at 39 weeks, she even stripped them at 38 weeks and 2 days before my induction.  I was a mess with contractions and pain and kept going to work every day.  I was the same both times, I hope it works better for you.  Good luck!

Oh I remember the times (all 4 of the times) that I went into (was induced) labor.  They come when they will and God if there were a way to make it happen I didnt' find it!!  I'm wishing you luck though and just keep walking.
