Weight gain, where does it start?

by Cheesecake7, Jul 10, 2008 03:23PM
I had my 14 week appointment today, and I have lost weight again.  I was thinking about the amount of weight one is to gain in a healthy pregnancy, like 25 pounds I think.  Anyway, here is my history:

Pre pregnancy- 155 pounds

14 Weeks- 141 Pounds

SO, I have lost 14 pounds so far.

My question is:  If I am to gain about 25 pounds, is that 25 pounds on top of my pre-pregnancy weight, or on top of my weight right now?

Any insight would be great!

Thanks!

I think it would be on top of where you are now...not sure though!

Hi,
I was having the same problem.  I lost a total of 16 lbs so far i'm 26 weeks and i've only gained 2lbs.  I was a little heavier than you when i started.  Dont worry, you will start gaining.  and it would be from the weight you are now.

Good luck

I am 16 wks 2 days and when I found out that I was prego i weighed 176 lbs then when i had my app i went to 170 and now i weigh 183. So from what i have heard from several people that some women loose weight before they actually gain. If your doc isnt worried about you loosing weight then you should not have anything to worry about.

The weight gain is on top of your PRE-pregnancy weight.

Like the other ladies said, dont worry UNLESS your doctor is concerned - it is common for many women to lose weight during the 1st trimester and then start gaining in the 2nd/3rd trimester.  A weight gain of 25 Ibs during pregnancy is just a very rough guide - some women lose weight, others dotn gain anything, and others gain 80 Ibs.  Provided your baby measures on target you dont need to worry.
