4cm dialated!!!

Has any one been 4cm dialated at 39 wks with no contractions? if so how long did it take to actually start active labor ? I'm also 70% effaced is there any thing I should be doing or not be doing??

I was 4cm for almost 2 days before active labor started and 100% effaced. I went to my next appt and was already 6cm! Then the contractions were more consistent. And I had my boy early the next morning.....you are just about there! but like mamaofone said....walk and have sex.....helped me!!

effacement is the hardest longest part in my opinion...sounds like its going to happen very soon!!!!

I will be 40 weeks tomorrow. I am 4cm dilated and have been for 2 days. 75% effaced and baby's head is at a station -1 (very low). Contractions were running 8 min apart and very mild. I was sent home Wednesday and then sent home today with a sleeping pill. Still have not progressed AT ALL. Going to see my doctor tomorrow morning at 9am to see what my options are as I am in complete agony. I have tried everything to get this labor into active and NOTHING is working. I know what you are going through. Try and hang in there and hopefully it will happen. I am praying that my labor progresses on it's own by the weekend.

I know how you feel girl! I had my baby at 4 this morning after being in "labor" for a week. I was 75% effaced and 2-3 cm for such a long time. I was getting contractions 1 minute apart and still made NO cervical change. My best advice is to not try any type of induction.. just try to be patient and distract yourself. Otherwise it will just drive you crazy!
