lazy dentist?

by pointguard, Jul 11, 2008 09:24AM
So, after 4 years without a cleaning, I finally went to the dentist.  I thought I would be in there for a while, being a smoker and coffee drinker.  The dentist was very nice, and has 35 years of experience.  In my opinion, the cleaning didn't take very long at all (maybe 10 to 15 minutes).  And when he used the polish, he only polished the fronts of my front 6 teeth top and bottom.  My old dentist had his hygenists do the cleaning, and they polished all sides of all my teeth.  Do you think this is normal practice, or that maybe I should find a new dentist who is more thorough?  Thanks.

i go every 6 months and spend at least 30 minutes in the chair. she scrapes, picks and pokes around every tooth. then she polishes every surface of every tooth. then she flosses every tooth. when i leave my teeth feel incredibly clean. then the dentist comes in and gives them a look over to make sure i have no cavities and my gums are healthy. this usually runs around $140 ($190 with xrays) and is worth every penny.
